The 26 Challenge
As proud supporters of the British Heart Foundation we are happy to share details of a new campaign around a BHF researcher who is running the TCS London Marathon this year. It would be great if any of you, friends, family, colleagues and clients wanted to take part.
Professor Sanjay Sinha, a leading BHF-funded researcher and really interesting chap to talk to, is running the TCS London Marathon this year alongside fellow researchers and thousands of others across the UK. He wants to help raise vital funds for research into regenerative medicine to help many of those suffering with heart failure.
Heart failure can affect anyone. It’s a disease that currently affects almost a million people in the UK, causing misery for many. There is no cure right now. But Sanjay and his team are determined to change that with research into a Heart Healing Patch that could regenerate heart muscle to keep hearts pumping and blood flowing. Andy Brooks our MD visited the research centre a couple of years ago and reported that seeing heart muscle beating in a petri dish and meeting the research team was a life changing event.
It’s a big challenge and like all charities it’s been hard for the BHF through Covid, which is why we’re asking you to consider taking part in The 26 Challenge.
The BHF say;
‘You don’t have to run a marathon to support lifesaving research into regenerative medicine. The 26 Challenge is an opportunity to raise money in your own creative way. As there are 26.2 miles in a marathon, we’re calling on people like you across the UK to fundraise around the theme of 26 and raise much-needed funds for this exciting area of research. It could be a sponsored 26-mile walk, wearing red for 26 days or taking on a 26-hour danceathon. It could be a 26-question quiz, a 26-day skipping challenge, or a 26-cake bake sale’.
It’s entirely up to you. All that we ask is that you do it your way, like Sanjay. It really does not matter as long as you have fun and raise money for the BHF. No amount is too small.
Every pound you raise will help us fund ground-breaking research into regenerative medicine and could promise a light at the end of the tunnel for those affected by heart failure.

I am sure some of the Brooks Team will do something suitably entertaining and Andy our MD plans to walk his dog for 26 miles in October.
