Artificial Intelligence and financial advice
I embrace change and research ways to improve efficiency. However, there is a perception that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a panacea across all subjects. Just as in life generally, there are limitations, and just because it is abundant it might not provide the most helpful information in all circumstances.
Some think that AI can access the internet – it does not. A top-rated platform provided information up to September 2021; this data is used to answer questions. It knows nothing about the aftermath of the COVID 2019 pandemic, the premiership of Liz Truss, the war in Ukraine or the most recent environmental issues.
I went to school a good few years ago. However, I have learned more since leaving school. AI has learned nothing since it digested what it was fed. In some cases, it might not be blind but indeed partially sighted as it can only deal with data rather than images. In specialised situations, it can be taught how to discriminate between images (for example, face recognition), but it is comparing data that make up images. It differs from visual recognition. It can be excellent and rapid.
There is a neutral bias built into the process. Sometimes, we need an interpretation of facts and desires to deliver useful advice. Without context and experience, a data-sheet can be of limited help.
How to spot AI:
A well-checked and amended document evolved from AI is difficult to spot. However, a lazy offering may contain American spelling from the source material that the editor taking credit for the work has not bothered to amend. Often the content is bland, imprecise and lacking passion or wit.
If you are happy with machine learning, there is plenty for you. If a genuine interest in you is more important, contact an Independent Financial Adviser who can inspire you with solutions that work and can do so in person instead from the other side of a keyboard.
